After completing Carleton College, David fulfilled a dream in becoming a Fulbright Scholar. He spent a year in Poland on a Fulbright Scholarship. He conducted a long-term, independent field study on small business development and entrepreneurship in northern Poland. While in Poland David lectured and attended courses at Gdansk University. He published "Managing Business Enterprises after Communism". This was a book of 15 Harvard Business School case studies on private-sector and restructured firms in Poland. He's also fluent in Polish after having scored the highest possible score on the national Polish language fluency exam at Lodz University.

In 1993 David went to Harvard University and studied at the Graduate School of Business Administration. Yes, he has an MBA from Harvard Business, and he graduated with distinction, with both first and second year honors.

What's more impressive is that David also went to the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences at Harvard University. He did all the course work required for the Ph.D. in Business Economics. His course work included:
